"Bootleggers ( also called Pirates ) are all over the FM Broadcast
band as well as Amateur Frequencies.... nothing new since the 1960s.
Miami FM radio has an estimated two dozen or so illegal stations....
some with sophisticated remote broadcast vans that do "remotes" at car
dealerships and
mall openings.
The FCC tries, but when they close a frequency down, another pops up a
few blocks away. The FCC cites lack of resources to enforce unless it
involves aircraft, public safety, or emergency service interference.
