I wonder if the Canadian version of the ARRL can do something about
getting some of the gear.

I wish Dayton Hamvention were closer.  The ideal way to rescue most of
the gear quickly would be to pull the trailers into the hamvention
flea market and put up a sign saying FREE.  Sure, some would get
junked or wind up on eBay but the alternative is a lot worse.
