Put the end of the old wire in some vinegar and leave for a while. The
vinegar will remove the oxidation and leave the wire shiny which will take
solder. It does take a while on stranded wire to get in and around the
individual wires in the bundle.

Is there a proven way to make a good connection, electrically, between a
corroded old piece of stranded wire and a new piece of new copper wire?
I want to lengthen my 40 m dipole to a 75 m dipole.
