You & me both, Mikey. Ken, W2DTC made an astute observation about some of
the big break-in advocates. He said 'Did you ever notice how the guys who
want to run break in because they don't like long transmissions end up
being the ones who constantly key up and talk over everyone, making long
transmissions?' or something to that effect. Break in is fine with a small
group of known quantities. Add one frequency hog and it becomes pointless.
My only beef with round tables beyond growing too large is having someone
break in to join who hasn't bothered to pay attention to what's being
discussed, and can't be bothered to listen to who to turn it over to. Their
response is to say what they have to say, then respond with "I don't know
who it goes to so I'll throw it up in the air" or something along those
lines - despite having been told when they broke in.
I figure if you're going to interrupt an ongoing conversation, you should
at least be courteous enough to pay attention, maybe listen a few go
arounds so you know who's involved, what the order is, etc.
