There are a lot of us OT's running old rigs with our straight keys. I run either a DX40, DX35, HX10 or Eico 720 for tx with a variety of BA receivers -- all basket case rigs brought back to life. You will always find someone at or above 7050 khz willing to chat.

A little off topic, but I have decided to run CW for a while and torment
people with my left foot sending. It is becomming very interesting. I am
finding a lot of old guys like me are on 40 meters using streight keys and
pounding along at 12 to 15 WPM. The other interesting thing, and yes I
fully understand DBs, is that I have reduced the IC703 from 10 wattts to 1
Watt and still have no problem making contacts. A far cry from the pair of
833As in the Gates. Bernie W8RPW
