Another, very simple way to attach a scope for AM modulation monitoring is to tune up into a dummy load - may favorite is a Heathkit 
Cantenna - and just attach the scope probe directly across the dummy load.  You probably will want to tune up into a dummy and adjust your modulation into it for a starter anyway.  Once you have established a correct setting for your modulator's audio gain control, you really don't need to watch a modulation monitor like a scope all of the time anyway - although it is fun.
