Guys - there is a lot of life on 40m AM. I just read this e-mail to me from a guy who bought  
one of my FT243 crystals: 

"I received my crystals today and I am very pleased.  Both function flawlessly.   My first  CQ 
resulted in a two hour round table on the 40m AM calling frequency (7293kc).  I reversed the 
resistor mod. My other squirrely crystal settled down after pulling out that 47ohm resistor.   
Having a blast with that DX-40.
