[AMRadio] Bendix Ta12 restoration

Good afternoon
I have in be given a TA 12 transmitter, minius the main switch, but I have lucked out and found such a switch at a junk sale, the owner didn't know where he got it from or history , my good luck
I have tring to work out how to re fit the switch it has a right angle shaft and gear box attached to the switch
It just wont fit,
Do I have to disconnect the shaft from the couplier (a grub screw and some sort of pin,may be tappered)
My questionis ,
Is the pin tappered, has any one ever done this, ?
before a break the only switch i am ever to get
