[AMRadio] Switching power supplies and dynamotors

Has anybody tried switching power supplies in the 30 and 40 amp range to run military gear powered by dynamotors?  Do they bog down and not recover enough to start the larger dynamotors?  Found a company that has a line of switching supplies, a 24VDC at 30 amps is $160 and a 42 amp is $260.  The company says they have had great success with them, no returns or failures...yet.
