I've not used a B&W 5100.

However, having used a number of radios from that time frame, I'd 
suggest a good old fashioned Shure-444.

They have a better range of audible frequencies than the D-104s and most 
of the EVs.

They are also easy to find and are fairly inexpensive.  Seems that the 
old D-104s are getting priced as though they had a gold nugget inside 
that is sizable.  It is part of the insanity.
