Mine was a 6CL6 screen modulated by a 12AT7, never looked back, 1957. Then an ART-13, WOW.

Wondering how far back can you go.......my first was an 807 modulated by a 6Y6
in 1952........then came the real rock crusher.....a BC-696 modulated with a 150 watt "juke box" amp.......not much carrier but you sure could hear the audio.....
I guess the main reason I enjoyed and still do is the fact that I could carry my hobby to work......over the years I was chief engineer for several stations and then built a commercial station (which I regret selling) and then went into the consulting business.
It has been a life time of total enjoyment.......hope each of you have enjoyed it as much.
