That's the great thing about ham radio, many areas to enjoy the hobby.

However, I do not "wallowing in how it was back in the "good old days""!  

I chose to operate in a way that I enjoy.

Change is good and refreshing; wallowing in how it was back in the "good
old days" is never a healthy exercise - "you can never really go back and
repeat the past".
