I'm a newbe to AM .. I got my feet wet so to speak just over a year ago,but
the bug has bit me bad. For over 20 years contesting and working DX was all
I wanted to do, but that has gotten old same as I have and I wanted to get
back to where being around the radios was fun again. A buddy of mine and my
best friend now has helped me with getting on the air and building and
restoring rigs. The one thing all of this has tought me is how much some of
the old AM'ers know about eletronics it's almost unreal. I wish I could
soak up like a spungs every thing they pass along to me. I don't think AM
is dieing it's just growing and newbies will keep it going it's just going
to take some time for people like me to get enough time to get on the air,
were we work and don't have the time to get on the radio as much as we'd
like it will happen soon for me as I'm getting close to retirement. One
reason I know it isn't going to the way side is every thing I try to buy on
ebay gets bought by someone spending a lot more money they I want to pay
for some nice peice that are out there. I have a good base to work with as
soon as I get the time .. I have a T3 and the R390A's and SP 600's and I've
restored 2 of the SP 600's myself and that is what's keeping the fire going
for me. I'm building my own power supply for my ART 13 and I can't wait to
get it on the air ..
