I don't have a Ranger schematic to reference but on the Viking II, one pin
of this ceramic antenna relay connector is connected directly to one side
of the incoming AC line. Should you still have one of those double fused
"death plugs" on the line cord, either replace the cordset with a polarized,
properly connected cord set or better yet, a 3 wire cordset. Again, make
sure of your polarity. An American set will have a green lead that should be
connected to the chassis, a black wire that should be connected to the hot
side going through the fuse holder and a white lead which should be
connected to the return side. Computer cords will have different colors so meter
them to be sure you know how they are connected to the AC plug. The wide
blade is hot.

Regardless, you are dealing with line voltage and the RCA connectors are,
for the most part, not rated for that use, regardless. Use a connector
approved to handle your local line voltage or you are inviting serious problems.

Again, if you have one of those fused plugs on your rig, ANY RIG, cut it
off and throw it in the circular file. You have only one life to live.

73 and stay safe,

John, W4AWM
