That was definitely the case with one guy out in the midwest who was trying
to pass them off as the real deal a couple years back. Think his name
was/is Jan. A page of fluff and hype which always seems to work on at least
a few.

There were no doubt some black paneled radios in the 50s. Recently saw a
nice R-388 on ebay with a signal corp red stamp on its black panel. But the
nonsense about 'black panels for black agencies' is just that.

Not that any of this actually matters in the bigger picture. The history is
always interesting, though.

Off to join K4HX & W3JN in Richmond for FrostFest tomorrow. Setting up
