I wouldn't recommend JB Weld. It uses powdered iron or steel dust as a
filler. Take a strong magnet and you can actually feel the magnetic
attraction to tube of the part that contains the filler, the black one IIRC.
Metallic filler of any kind is the last thing you want to use in that
application.

I'll have to experiment with the super glue and baking soda. Never heard of
that before but sounds interesting.
