Rather than answer my question, Bernie suggested I find out for
myself.  Okay.  You can in fact purchase (for example) 100K w.w. 200
watt resistors from Newark.  Made by Ohmite you will pay ~ 25 dollars
for each one.  Multicomp brand for less--$18 each.  Multicomp appears
to have their products manufactured ahem, off shore.  If you don't
mind spending $100 for a set of four USA bleeders, then yes, they are
available.  If you trust a few KV with bleeders made on another
continent, then you can pay less.   I think I'll stick with hamfests.
