[AMRadio] Search for a valiant

I have a B&W 5100B and it has great audio....no mods needed.
Some guys say that the 'couplate' (an integrated network in the first audio)
should be replaced with discrete components but I left it all original
except I replaced all the paper and lytic caps.
It is really a pain to pick up......man, that thing weighs a lot more than a
Valiant!
I've been hauling it around for 18 years now and just about a year ago got
it on the air.
For sure the vfo is pretty stable and the whole thing operates Cadillac
smooth.

I've got a DX-100 old version that is in incredible condition...I know who
assembled it back in 57' and he did a great job.
I need to drag it out, get it serviced and on the air....but I've been
enjoying the Viking 500 I recently worked over....what a nice rig.

Since TVI is a lot less likely to be a problem nowadays, those cabinets
with extra shielding like the Viking II and HT-20 are really a pain. I
really think the DX-100 is the best all-round value and solid performer and
it includes 160 meter coverage, but I dread having to pull it out of
that cabinet! If you're willing to look a little harder, the B&W 5100
and 5000B are, in my view, superior transmitters with excellent VFOs and
modular construction, but like the Apache only cover 80-10. I guess
that's why DX-100Bs remain in high demand.
