[AMRadio] Johnson Viking Ranger (I)

I'm working my way through a Ranger that has been modified by previous
owners. The RF section is working fine, but I'm having some
problems with the Phone operation. Specifically, I get very little audio to
the final, and if I raise the audio gain to above 3/4 of its value, I get
ringing 
of the modulation transformer. I'm about to tackle the issue, but if someone
has experienced this problem and can save me some bench time... it would
naturally be very much appreciated.
