Hello all,
I have the sad duty of helping the family of SK, Anon Dixon (Dick) Day, N4YVL, dispose of his ham gear. Except for 2 TenTecs, all his TX gear was Johnson heavy iron, with Hammarlund and Collins RX's. I will post here first, several locals in the area have expressed interest in some of his items, but no one is interested in this BC610C. I helped him move it into his shack around 20 years ago when he went to Indiana to pick it up. It is complete with all manuals, all tuning units, and coils, the separate audio amp section and 'was' working. It is not working now. The octal plug that goes to the audio amp was missing the keyway, and Dick just plugged it in, and it promptly blew one of the fuses. He called me to see what I could do, and thinking that it may have smoked the audio section, I began to investigate and found either the wiring to, or the primary of, the modulator driver stage plate xfmr is shorted. Any damage to the audio amp had been
averted by this short. I have a friend in TN that has 3 of these xfmrs, so was not sweating the repair if that is the problem. The rest of the rig fires up with HV just fine. It is mounted on a 4 wheel dolly, but could use a bit of lubrication.
In the condition it is in, I would appreciate some input on what to sell this for. Of course, this will be pickup only. If anybody here is interested, let me know. It is located in Tuxedo, NC, which is south of Hendersonville near the state line. I do not have a picture of it, yet, but it is good cosmetic shape, and original condx. The family has a contracting business set up for PayPal, plus a 'Square' account, so those wishing to pay that way are welcome.
