[AMRadio] For Sale Ads on this list, ideas, suggestions?

Do you realize if every business peddler of ham gear posted on all the lists every week, they would out number hams subscribed to lists.  Frankly,  I do not subscribe to any list other then sales lists for ads.  As I said earlier,  if a guy advertises infreaquently to buy or dispose of his personal equipment,  I have no problem with those type ads.  It really bugs me to see peddlers on lists I belong to constantly selling their stuff as a business. One guy, you know who I am talking about, posts up to 2 times a week.  I find that offensive.  That is not OK with me.  (I think the guy in question posts the same add to just about every ham reflector known to man).  Can you imagine what it would be like if every peddler did this?  No thanks.

I want to explore those who make regular postings with stuff for sale 
with you a bit more, so please bear with me.

I see the validity of both methods; however have some reservations about 
either method of handling it.  I, personally, know that one of the 
people who are making the list postings for sale is doing it to just 
supplement his ham funds, not trying to live out of the proceeds.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the biggest complaint is that some people 
see the same message cross posted over several lists and that causes 
them to delete it in several places.  Again I point to the person who is 
subscribed to many lists and receives a volumn of messages daily.

On one hand I enjoy seeing those posts and rarely are there so many 
parts on the posting that it makes for a long message.  If they only 
advertised their web page and referenced it, I probably would not look. 
>From time to time I may see something that triggers my interest.  If I 
only saw a post to go to a web site to see what is there I probably 
wouldn't do it.  So seeing it here is a benefit to me.

I symphatize with those of you who subscribe to multiple lists and see 
the posting multiple times in your inbox.  I read every posting to this 
group, AM Swap and three of four other lists so I do my fair share of 
reading like you and my fair share of deleting messages too.  Some of 
you indicated you prefer eBay and do not care to do business with people 
who post here.  A similar number have said they like the postings and 
don't care.

On the other hand, this reflector and the owner/moderators are not 
responsible for the number of groups you have susbcriptions to but have 
a desire to have a place where hams can come together, share thoughts, 
advice about equipment and facilitate trading or selling on it including 
parts for repair.

There are remedies for the multi list posting by one party that you can 
take.  So far I have not received many messages from those of you who 
wish the postings be banned.  The overwhelming majority of the messages 
did not consider this a problem.

So tell me what you think.  Should posters who make posting across 
several groups be asked to not do that or shall we allow them to 
continue to post their lists?  This decision may cost some members but 
that is not the intent.  We only wish to serve everyone we can with the 
best service we can devise.
