Ads good with me.
An occasional reminder to Reply (not Reply All) posted by ourselves might self-correct the issue of having to read private exchanges.

This was a problem back when ads were allowed on AM Radio and why Brian
created AM Swap. As you have seen there are some people who are not
interested in seeing ads where there is a discussion. Even though they
have not mentioned this problem specifically, I feel that may be a part
of it. This also reflects the fact that it is unneeded traffic that is
stored in the archives when someone consummates the purchase on the
reflector.
Another reason for not wanting to see them is they generate more traffic
for the recipient. Some people, maybe not the ones who have objected
here, are members of numerous lists and receive a hundred or more
messages per day. The current situation moves some of that traffic to
lists where they may not hold a subscription which reduces their inbox
clutter.
This sounds like a viable solution to the problem as most lists are set
up as you mention with the Reply button going to the poster and Reply
All to the list.
Anyone else want to express an opinion on this? What makes sense to
you?
