Here's a cheap fix...on the Apache I found along side the road in a ditch, and put back on the air where it has been for 16 years, I used an old broken retractable measuring tape, knew it would come in handy for something. I just pulled out enough to wrap around the pulleys, and cut with scissors. One thing I have that you might not, is a hole punch for metal with 8 sizes of punches and anvils, so that made punching the holes simple. Drilling is difficult but you can sandwich the metal between 2 other pieces of thin aluminum and then drill it, that would eliminate the tear hazard. I was not exact with the measurement so I do have a little backlash in the control but it works fine just the same.
