Thanks for all the ideas/comments on removing the slugs, etc.

Problem with some of these slugs is that they are so eaten up, there is no
way to grab onto them to screw out, even if I heated them up. I've tried
small needle nose, tweezers and the like with no luck. So, I think I will
have to break them up and such them out with the shop vac. Of course even
those pieces that are in there might be doing some good, so I will wait to
remove the bad ones until I have gathered up another good 7 or so. That
might take 10 years to find however!

The rx works so good as is, that I may just leave well enough alone and
forget the slugs. Just realignment of the IF, AVC, limiter, crystal
filters, etc., made it really come to life. I was also really pleased to
see the 455 IF crystal was still almost spot on at 453.6 kc, according to
my Motorola r-1200A. Well within specs.

On the lettering for the front panel. I used white and red Lacquer sticks
to rub the paint into the letters. Remember, on the SX-28A the letters
were stamped into the metal, so this method works well, but still rather
tedious. During the process, you will certainly get paint on the areas
around the letters that has to be removed. Use whatever you can for that
and be careful not to rub paint out of the lettering. My final step was to
use a light polish to remove and haze left over around the letters once the
lacquer was dry. If you have a panel that was silk screened and no letter
impressions, you will have to resort to getting it silk screened.

73 & Thanks
