Actually, you could run a one kw carrier, if you only modulated 
downwards.  You could have around 95% modulation or so and Full 
quieting between syllables, which would probably make your transmission 
much more understandable and enjoyable.  I believe it may cause some 
pumping action on the AGC in some recievers.   There was a whole 
write-up on downwards modulation somewhere.

Now, I've put the asbestos suit on, so over to y'all...

It isn't *JUST* money!

And *relative* is putting it mildly!

Look at Bob Macklin.  He has issues with a DX-60 causing issues with
cable boxes and TVs.  He has very tight limits on antennas.

I'm tickled to death that a BC-610 and its antenna fits in here.

A Commercial 1KW, is a KW Carrier!  It is NOT 1500W PEP.

We are talking completely different worlds.

You *could* run just the 1KW carrier, but you couldn't modulate it.  At
least not in a percentage that would be heard.
