3880 does not make here to the PNW. so I can't appreciate the problems you 
have.

I have not heard anything here on 3870 for some time. I have the SB-301 on 
it right now to see if there is any activity today.

I leave it on SSB so I can hear the carrier if there is one..

The noise floor is about S6 here on 75M.
