[AMRadio] Ongoing Quest: Legal Limit AM Amp

Darrell,

That is an understatement!

While I've only been at this since 1980, it didn't matter when you took
an HT-32 or a DX-60 into a legal limit AMP.

You end up running about 20W carrier into the AMP. The audio peaks
takes the output of the amp up to the legal limit (CURRENT LIMIT), of
1500W PEP.

If you take a 100W carrier rig, with 400W full modulated peaks and pump
THAT into a legal limit AMP, you will be over driving the AMP, and
splattering Lord only know HOW broad!

This topic keeps resurfacing, and it just doesn't get any attention paid
to it.

It WAS simpler with the EARLIER rules, but with the new rules, it is as
clear as stirred mud.

They want to put full drive to them, tune for maximum output, and go to town. If you try to explain to them that it's necessary to over couple them in order to gain 6 dB of headroom they think you're crazy.
