Hi all,
I have just subscribed to this reflector in hopes of getting some advice on refinishing the face of
a Hammarlund HQ-110A receiver I just picked up a couple of weeks ago at a swapfest. I decided
I would like to set up a 60's based station and am getting ready to purchase the matching transmitter.
My question though is to find out how the graphics are reproduced on the front of the radio after
it gets repainted. I have searched the internet to find out how anyone else gets it done but really
havent found a clear answer. Im familiar with silk screening but dont see how it can be done on
this particular radios face plate. The actual surface is recessed with a bezel that is actually part
of the casting of the whole face. I have seen some that have used clear decals but I dont care
much for that route as it would be quite apparent that it isnt original. Maybe if a clear finish is sprayed
over the whole face if it was redone with decals would hide that fact. I dont know. Any help would be
appreciated because ideally I would like to make it match as close as original as is possible. How was
it done origianally? My son is a graphics artist and is in the process of making me the lettering and
dial indicator lines so I can be ready to produce what ever I need to get it done. Any ideas?

Thanks-Bob-WT9Q
