Maybe that's true in a roundtable or group in which some of the
participants might not be interested in the topic. But in a one-on-one QSO
or small group, I feel no obligation to limit the discussion to trivial
comments about the weather, the rig, how many years we have been a ham,
with plenty of HI HI FB OMs thrown in. If the other op and myself feel like
discussing any topic on the face of the earth, including politics, world
events, religion or social issues, we should feel free to do so, although
hopefully we would try to keep it in good taste. If non-participating
listeners who happen to tune into the QSO don't like what they hear us
talking about, that's their problem and not ours, and that's what the tuning
dial on the receiver is for.
