[AMRadio] 10M AM Frequencies

Is there a ARRL bandplan in effect?

If not, then, I would suggest that AM operation be above 29 Mhz.

I agree, Ed. Especially going forward with more online activity and
less on-air. The KISS principal applies just as well to amateur
regulations as it does to the typical business model.

And as Mark says, 10 meters doesn't suffer from overcrowding at this
point. But like any other HF band, it does suffer from the same 'Mode
in a Box' mentality that some operators believe serves their purposes
well. In fact, the imaginary 'window' approach is responsible for
adding to the noise and hostility on 75 meters, the top of 40, and
elsewhere as soon as conditions permit. Plenty in the AM community
criticize SSB groups for claiming they own frequencies for their nets,
then do the same thing with the 'window' mentality.

The upside is, not all of us are into the self-imposed frequency
restriction approach, so it makes for some excellent AM down in the
80m portion, middle and low end of 40m, and would work just as well on
10 or anywhere else. If we choose to limit ourselves, we'll get
limited results. Just as we do when we 'listen' for activity rather
than getting on the air and trying to create it. If nobody ever calls
CQ, who will you 'listeners' answer?

Seems to me that most of the restrictions that exists to on-air
activity are the ones we place on ourselves. Makes about as much sense
as the folks who say "I don't like the way so-and-so acts, so I'm not
going to operate on that band" or "...not going to operate AM", etc.
Folks are certainly free to limit themselves, it just gets old seeing
those who do so online complaining about it. Not that anyone here is
doing that. (o:
