Another way to see, on-line, if the band is open is to call several CQs (on CW), then click onto this website:
http://www.reversebeacon.net/srch.php
Enter your call sign in the space provided---if stations were automatically monitoring the band during your call, a list of those that heard you will come up. It'll say how strong you were at each one, the time you were heard, & even how fast your fist was...
It's really quite neat.
