An excellent point Don, and something we should probably add a
reminder for now and then.

I have to admit, I've been guilty of this myself a couple times in the
last year. Each time I was in a hurry to finish a response before
running off to do something else, and both times I realized it as soon
as I hit the 'send' button. I think the measurement of time between
realizing it and hitting the button is referred to as an ignasecond.

For those new to the list or unfamiliar with list posting, Don is
referring to quoting an entire post when responding, versus clipping
(deleting) the parts of the previous post unrelated to your response,
before sending it out to the entire list. We already have the full
message sent by the previous sender. Failure to do this, often
followed by someone else failing to do so, results in unnecessarily
large messages clogging up peoples' inboxes as well as wasting
bandwidth on the list.

Fortunately, most folks handle this without issue. But it does still
show up from time to time. Too often, really. We don't need the footer
or anything else from the previous post, other than the specific
question or statement you are addressing.

Thanks for staying on top of this, and thanks Don for bringing it up -
