Thanks for the reply Bud:
Great to hear you are making progress with the Big Rig. Haven't set up the
GSB-00 but it's on a short "things to do in the winter list". :o) The WX
has been too nice to play inside. Diane and I spent a few weeks at our
little apartment in Myrtle Beach, S.C. We have a beach front location and
are on the 15th floor. I bring my little IC-735 along and run it bare foot.
The antenna is a "Ham Stick" with a permanant clamp mount on the balcony
railing which serves as a very good counterpoise for 10 meters. Without a
good "earth ground" too much power might start tripping the Fire Alarm
system and who knows what else :o)
Have worked the U.K., Europe and the Med. with good results. Also had a
few nice ragchews on AM. SSB seems to be the usual quick exchange baloney
but I've found that the guys in the U.K. and Germany really like to ragchew
on FM Simplex. At least I can run a 100w. carrier with that mode. Plenty
of room to operate and we stay away from the 10m repeater input freqs.
Actually the QSO's are just like AM on 40 meters and some of those guys
speak better English than I do :o) I regularly worked a guy running mobile
in the N.W. of England. His dad is 88 yrs. old and can still do 40 wpm cw.
The old timer joined the Royal Navy as a teenager and served on Convoy
Escort duty in the North Atlantic. He was too young to be in the Service
but lied about his age. He was so good at CW that they kind of looked the
other way. Guess alot of that went on in those days.
Well, we're back home now and getting ready for winter......that means more
"air time" from K2UPI Radio---The AM-FM & CW Voice of Rattle Snake Gulch.
73 for now, and best to you and Bobbie for the Holidays.
Ken.

I have been wanting to bring that Globe up on 6 meters ....But .....I have
had several problems with the ndBig Rig (HK-54's).... I have been working
with Bob, ICQ.........I think that we have solved the 40 meter drive problem
and the bias supply problems so maybe were home free.
Have you worked anybody with the GSB 100 ???...........Have you been on 10
Meters ?I'm remembering what a FUN band that is .........GREAT to see it
open
Hope that you and Linda have a wonderful Thanksgiving
73
Bud
