as a JN my "relay" was a dpdt knife switch.   I was too dumb to know
it wasn't 50 ohms.  It didn't matter on 80 and 40 where I operated.
Eventually I discovered that with 40 or 50 watts cw I didn't need a
T/R switch and simply used separate antennas, discovering the
wonderful world of QSK.  After you get used to QSK you can never go
back to not having it.
