Okay Jim, weill I won't be on in the morning, except maybe early on
Saturdays, because during the week I have to get in to the job at 7
a.m. If the stuff gets here in a few days and the wx cooperates maybe
I'll be able to get the L back up but operating time is another
matter. I have a compromise ground system of 101 radials made with
no. 14 solid of wildly varying lengths. I usually listen with a small
rx loop. I have had QSOs on 160 out west to Bill KD0HG in Colo., and
Dave W6PSS in KC. Recently I worked a fellow out somewhere in
Colorado running a temporary portable station while traveling back to
Ohio from B.C. The L should have a slight amount of gain to the
southwest because the horizontal part runs northeast. I think I have
fairly good ground conductivity being near a riverbank.
