Thanks, Rich and all others who have contributed advice. I think I've used
PB Blaster for freeing nuts, bolts and such, but never for rust removal.
I'll sure give it a shot.

   Have to add my 2 cents.  Try PB Blaster penetrating catalyst.  Available
at Walmart and meant for busting loose nuts and bolts.  Spray it on and use
a fine sand paper and the rust rolls off.  Also good for shining up a dirty
chassis.  I have been a WD 40 guy for years but this stuff beats wd.  I
tried the naval jelly once but that was all.  While it was fair at removing
the rust I got some on a tube socket that had to be replaced as it arched.
