I am sending this as a reminder that Memorial Day is a day set aside as
a Holiday for the Fallen men and women whom have given the ultimate to
our country.

I would like to add that it ALSO is a time to reflect on those whom are
CURRENTLY putting it ALL on the line in our behalf.

Agreed. Nice sentiment, Bob.

A Veteran is someone who write a blank check,
payable to the United States of America for up to,
and including, their life.

Every day of Freedom,

Every able bodied person in this Country, M or F, should have to serve at
least one term in some branch of service. With exception of veterans, we are

Geoff,

It is simply "one of those things!".

Even amongst those of us who have spent their time and survived, whom
also owe a debt of honor, It is indeed a Blank Check to this country.

It becomes payable on demand where you are at the time that it is cashed!

Either you are fortunate, as I am, and you survive - OR you are NOT
fortunate - AND either there is some piece of either granite or marble
just down the road from me, or straddles the remain of the Arizona, that
is always there for others to visit.

If you can visit one of these memorials, and NOT be moved, there is
something wrong!

Thank you all Vets and those who lost their lives, we salute you.

I am sorry that people did that to you Gary. It is so wrong on so many
levels.

My grandfather Ward Haner served in WWII we think on the Red Ball Express.
He wouldn't talk about it, so we never really knew. I served in Desert
Shield/Desert Storm with 1st Armored Division, 123rd Main Support Battalion
(we were Theater Support there in DS), and I was attached to B/25 Field
Artillery (Target Acquisition Battery), where I was Direct Support for the
Firefinder Radars.

I do my best to leave out *that* welcome home.

There is enough stain left!

To my Brothers from OUR war - GO to the memorial for us!

It took years before I could work up the courage to step right up to it!

It WILL be worth it! It indeed is cathartic. I can see where the
artist got the idea for the picture with the Vet's hand on the wall -
while one whom has gone is touching his hand from the "other" side!
