Great receiver....my all time favorite, and I've had several.
I'd suggest doing the usual prelimary stuff first; check tubes
(including for shorts!), check B+ voltages, and look for
shorted bypass caps (esp in the IF's). The R-390 has a
voltage regulator using a pair of 6082's and there are
often issues here. Good luck!
