That was Byron Kretzman,  now SK.  Although he was well known for his 
interest in RTTY, he was also an AMer. He wrote an article that appeared in 
CQ magazine entitled "AM isn't dead", sometime in the early 1980s. I used to 
talk with him on the air on AM back then.
