*In the 60's we used to operate AFSK RTTY on 2M(AM). I'd like to get some
old
fashioned RTTY going on 2M again.*
If that is the case you will need to go find a Model 19, build yourself a
real TU with tubes in it (no solid state filtering as that would be evil
new-tech stuff) and oh yes mod that AM transmitter for true FSK keyed with
the DC loop off the 19. Now we are talking real fun. Just make sure the
shack has a good solid floor. Your equipment may end up weighing more than a
empty J-3 Cub and never fill your coffee cup all the way to the top or the
vibration will get your log wet. Now we are talking real fun. Make sure you
punch a tape loop with CR and LF so when your buddy makes the mistake of
leaving his station on you can slap it in the tape reader and run his roll
of paper off on the floor. I hear tell of guys that would do that to each
other. May have even done it myself.....can't do that with your PC.
Keep the dust off the green keys
