AM Plate Modulated Broadcast Transmitters are a part of history

AM Plate Modulated Broadcast transmitters are fun to restore and give a 
sense of accomplishment as you restore them.

I wouldn't part with my RCA BTA-1R2 for anything.  Things like this keep me 
in Ham radio.  Not many others things in the hobby do.
