Thanks, Jim. I have had little experience with diode substitutes. I always
heard they changed the voltages considerably. Thanks for the good news!

If your "diode substitutes" throw the voltages all off, something is wrong.
The forward drop across an 866 is only about 11 volts.  The drop across a
single silicon diode is about 0.7 volts.  Several in series would have
correspondingly more drop.  But the drop across a silicon diode substitute
should not be that different from the drop across an 866, and if it does
throw the voltages off then something else is going on.
