I am inclined to believe the same thing, Rob. The actual modulation
transformer on the Valiant is considerably larger and beefier than the
Ranger's, but the audio driver looks to be the same size.

Off hand I'd think the Valiant mod iron would be beefier--3 or 4 times
the power of the ranger.  I hope I'm wrong--I have a ranger and hope
it has robust mod iron hi hi
