Bback in the 60s' a teenage bud of mine built something that must have 
been pretty similar using a pair of 813s mounted to a piece of plywood 
with a pole pig transformer sitting on the floor beside it.   It did 
work but only for a couple of days, as once his mom found out what it 
was she made him tear it apart before it electrocuted the cat.  Or 
someone else!   We always referred to it as the Ross Hull Amplifier.
