Look back to any of the ham radio magazines, Letters to the Editor,
Reader Correspondence, etc., of the 30's through the 60's, and you'll
find many usages of ham radio acronyms and abbreviations in the writings.
Rolling to the 70's there was the wide usage of CB slang and
abbreviations in writings and even songs. The fact that today's older
generation requires them to carry a translation table around in order to
understand the writings of today's generation probably shows how out of
touch they are with today's generation. It's always fun to contact a
"todays' generation person" on CW, that's texting savvy. It's probably as
close encryption as you can get, without using any additional tools.
