[AMRadio] Boat Anchor Receiver

That was not why I built my own.
The initial plan was to build something that I could use under good
conditions so I could say the station was all home brew.
Think a well working regen, but I never had a lot of luck with regen
circuits.
What I ended up with worked better then anything else, so the old stuff went
out the door.
And its dirt simple, which is why its quiet I guess.
There seems to be 4 important area's for a good AM receiver that you want to
use on the lower bands:
The IF filter, for me, the kiwa filters work fantastic, just like mechanical
filters, and they were only $50.00.
The detector (for low distortion),
The frequency readout (an AADE digital display/freq counter took care of
that).
Stability, I found it easy to build a stable LO if you use B+W coil stock.
Besides the passband options on the flex gear, the homebrew works better,
better on weak signals, lower noise, more sensitive.

Guess these issues are why I built my own.
