The HQ 170 is a good choice. So are the NC300/303 Nationals with the Hammarlund being some what lower in price curently. Haven't any experience with the 173 and the 183 Nationals though they should be good Am RXs........WA2FNS

There was no "perfect" match for the Collins.
The best fit would be a 32V and a 75A-2.

 Hello

I don't think a Collins Receiver matches very well with a Ranger.

In the day, A ham buying a Ranger would undoubably be on a budget and
 would
more likely buy a receiver made by Hammarlund or Hallicrafters. Since a
Johnson Ranger sold for about 200.00 I think a nicematch would be a
 Hammarlund HQ-170.
