Not nears as good as Joe, N3IBX's "Taliban-100." Talk about different, the
previous owner removed the 1625's and installed 814's, plus add an extra
6146 to boot. The 3rd 6146 is mounted horizontally on the 'wall' in the
final area. Its a hideous looking thing, but works FBOM!

Great news.
Fun playing with the old stuff, no?

What I did with the one I had (the one I got for free but had to rent the
guys hand truck for $10.00) was to solid state the rectifiers and in the
sockets installed two of the bigger VR tubes for the modulator screen
regulation, through a dropping resistor from the high voltage, not a center
tap off the filter capacitors.
I always thought that unbalanced the caps and would have more voltage on
one....

That DX100 was my learning radio, I tried every crazy experiment I heard of,
new audio circuits, 600 ohm microphones, line level input, 6146 modulators,
then kt88's, different mod transformers, outboard modulator using 811's, all
sorts of crazy stuff.

I learned LOT on that rig.
