[AMRadio] The 29080 Signals

Jim,

I'm replying before taking the time to do the math, but this BC signal
you are hearing is probably a harmonic.

It has been awhile since I heard one on 10 meters, but I have caught a
few of them.

Many years ago, a friend got me started listening for Medium Wave band
harmonics. I still do that sometimes, but haven't found any really
good strong ones lately.

Once I went for about 3 months listening to the second harmonic of a
station on 1480 that was about 200 miles away from my qth. This thing
was usually S9, sometimes stronger, with a very clean sounding carrier
and audio, and I could not hear the fundamental frequency signal at
all.

I finally made a recording, and sent it to the station addressed to
the engineer. A short time later, the signal went away.

The third or fifth harmonics are often stronger due to the better
radiation properties of their antennas at those frequencies, but you
can often hear a second harmonic for a surprising distance. Just ask
any novice who ever ran a single tube oscillator transmitter.

With my beam pointed South I have been hearing a Spanish speaking
broadcast station on this frequency in Southern Oklahoma. Wasn't
aware
there were such on 10 meters on or near that frequency.

It could be a funny mix somewhere but it fades like it is a direct
reception. As I type the signal has faded into the noise. Has anyone
else heard the station or anything like it?
