Thanks, Russ!

I'll probably go with the flattest response mic I can get (the MC-5
in my Hiel desk mic or the MC-60 in my Kenwood desk mic). I don't
much like the sound of either the original D-104 or the Shure 404C.
If I recall, they both have similar frequency response: -6 dB at 200
Hz, -3 dB at 300 Hz, 0 dB at 500 Hz, +1 dB at about 700 Hz, back to 0
dB at 1000 Hz, -2 dB at about 1500 Hz, a sharp rise to +4 dB at 3000
Hz, and the a sharp drop off to -6 dB at 4000 Hz. If I remember
right, this was supposed to mimic the D-104 response (Shure's 404 vs
Astatic's 104) though I don;t know how well it really does. I've
always thought the Shure 404 sounded a bit too narrow. I prefer the
sound of a flat mic, but I'll use what I have for now.

I need to get a male in-line 9-pin mic plucg so I can make a simple
adapter to go from my Hiel (or Kenwood) to the Champ. For now, I'll
be delighted to simply get it all set up and on the air!

MX,
